Joint Statement from Daystar School Board and Humboldt Community Christian School Board
Out of the commitment to provide students and families with the highest quality Christian education, on Tuesday April 16, 2017, the board of Humboldt Community Christian School (HCCS) voted to enter into an agreement to transition operations to Daystar School. The boards of both schools believe this provides the greatest opportunity to continue HCCS’s legacy and mission of providing quality Christian education for the Humboldt Park Community. Daystar and HCCS share a vision for excellence in Christian education, an ethnically and socio-economically diverse community and individualized, nurturing learning environments.
Humboldt Community Christian School was established in 1980 to provide a quality education to students in Humboldt Park and the surrounding area regardless of their family income. Over 30 years later generations of students have passed through their doors to become productive members of society. HCCS consistently provided Christian discipleship with academic achievement and cultural appreciation to prepare future leaders and citizens.
Daystar School is a well-established Christian school with a growing student body and current enrollment of 300 students from Pre Kindergarten – 8th grade, with a campus in Chicago’s South Loop. Daystar is well positioned for additional programing and population growth with their recent expansion of the current leadership team (which now includes an Upper School Principal). Daystar is accredited through Christian Schools International and is an International Baccalaureate candidate school. Daystar’s intent is to expand their model of excellence in Christian education from Pre-K through 12th grade. Daystar values and leverages the diversity of the city, its urban location, high academic standards and Christian worldview to develop tomorrow’s global citizens.
The Daystar leadership and board have been preparing to expand their current model and community. Daystar is honored to further the work that HCCS started in Humboldt Park and look forward to welcoming the HCCS community.Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
