3rd/4th Grade Teacher
Rachael began teaching at Humboldt in the fall of 2013. She grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois and now currently lives in the neighborhood. Rachael double majored in Elementary and Middle Level Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Rachael taught for an after school enrichment program and tutored before coming to Humboldt. She enjoys teaching at Humboldt with such a great community of staff and families. Her favorite part of Humboldt is being able to challenge students not only in academics, but integrate biblical truths and character for each student's growth. Her favorite bible passage is from Ephesians 3:16-19 " I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rootedi and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
Carmen Bonner hails from St. Louis, Missouri. Following her graduation from Lake Forest College, she relocated to Chicago permanently. She began teaching here at Humboldt in 1999. Carmen has taught all grades from prek-8th. "I can honestly say that there is nowhere else I’d rather teach nor have my son attend school. Humboldt Community Christian School has been a great blessing in my life."
5th/6th Grade Teacher
I began teaching at Humboldt in 2014 and have loved teaching for over 25 years in all grades from Pre-k to adults. The students in the Humboldt Park community have been served by me for nearly seven of those years. My special areas include reading and LA. where I infuse God"s holy Word. Willow Creek, Chicago campus is my church home where I serve in the arts ministry. Teaching is my passion. Being in a Christian school is my calling. I look forward to working with the families here at Humboldt.
1st Grade Teacher
Disha was born in India and at the age of two her parents moved to Trinidad and Tobago where they serve as missionaries. She completed her Diploma in Early Childhood in Trinidad and Tobago. She also graduated from Moody Bible Institute May 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After that she spent two years teaching at an International School in Jakarta Indonesia where she taught English to Elementary and Middle school students. She also worked with street kids in Indonesia and has directed after-school programs in Chicago's Little India and Chinatown. While pursuing her degree at Moody she did her student teaching at Humboldt School and is blessed to be back with her Humboldt family.
A scripture passage she cherishes is Colossians 4:2-6:
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
2nd grade Teacher
Abby was born in Chicago and began teaching in 2003 at HCCS after serving as a volunteer in 2001-2003. Abby earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Child Development from Ashford University. Abby has over 20 years of experience working with children and was a Bible school teacher for nine years. Her favorite Bible passages are Psalm 91 and Matthew 18:10: "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” Abby loves the feeling of family and community we have with each other and the students at HCCS. Two of her sons began attending in PreK and have since graduated, and her 3rd son is currently enrolled.
